Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park

6/30/2007 Crossed the dam creating the Summerville lake and into Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park. Took a nature trail for some overlooks of the Gauley River rapids, then back to a house/museum that was in the middle of the Civil War battle (had some ball holes in it).

Prickett’s Fort State Park

6/30/2007 Continued to Prickett’s Fort State Park (near Fairmont). This turned out to be very interesting – a reconstruction of a typical fort created by local settlers for Indian protection. Extremely detailed displays in buildings (especially the common building) and costumed guides.
