Nassau-Suffolk Trail
According to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference, the
Nassau-Suffolk Trail is "a backyard wilderness of surprising diversity and
contrast. Though it traverses a heavily populated area, the trail offers hikers
the opportunity to stroll through secluded woodlands rich in plant and animal
life". Ken and I handled this in the same way as the
Greenbelt Trail - break it into easily-managed segments. We got off to a
good start, completing two segments, but have yet to get to the third.
Segment 1
Hiked: 4/5/01
Log: Segment one of the Long Island Nassau-Suffolk Trail [Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt NRT]. All Nassau-Suffolk hikes accomplished with two cars: meet at the end,
leave car one and drive to the start, leave car two, do hike, take car one back to start to car two. Started on Harbor road at Cold Spring Harbor
State Park. Stillwell Woods Park, Trail View State Park. Ended at Sunnyside Blvd. and the Northern State.
