Channeled Scablands
5/28/2010 First stop, the Channeled Scablands and the Scabland Cache (BLM). This whole region of the country
was scrubbed of topsoil when the Ice Age Lake Missoula (huge!) burst its containment and flooded west to the Pacific, creating a
scab-like appearance. I stopped in light rain in the middle of rolling prairie to walk the short Cache Cater Trail to a deep depression
in the exposed volcanic surface. Not really much but the concept was pretty amazing.
