Curecanti National Recreation Area

5/24/2007 Drove a short way to Curecanti NRA. Quick stop at the visitor center, then parked at the Dillon Pinnacles trailhead. Took part of this trail for great views of the lava-created pinnacles as well as the Blue Mesa reservoir (created from the Gunnison river). Drove over the Blue Mesa dam for nice views down into the gorge, then back and around to the other side. Took the Pine Creek trail down to the river and looked way back up where I just was. Climb up not fun – definitely feeling the altitude.
