Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site

10/31/2012 From there across town to the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site and NHL. The site preserves the home of the founder of Black History Month, African American historian, author, and journalist. This site is closed awaiting a restoration plan so all we could do was photo it.

10/13/2024 Carter Woodson House NHS and NHL. The site preserves the home of the founder of Black History Month, African American historian, author, and journalist. I had been here on the return home trip from Hurricane Sandy, but it was in much better shape.

Frederick Douglass National Historic Site

7/26/1997 From here into D.C. and over to the Frederick Douglass NHS. Took a tour of his large Victorian home on a hill, followed by an interesting film on his life in the visitor center. Quite a man, rising from slavery to advising five Presidents.
