Minidoka National Historic Site
9/15/2005 Headed east, mostly on back roads to near Hunt to the Minidoka Internment Camp NHS.
Not really much here from the days the Japanese were held here during the war. Saw a few ruins of a guard building,
but enjoyed the views of the area near the river.

9/25/2023 Minidoka National Historic Site, a.k.a Hunt Camp. We checked out the entrance area with some building remnants
made from lava boulders, and a replica guard tower, then parked at and walked around the main park area, which is actually only a small part of
the originally sprawling camp housing 13,000 Japanese American detainees during WWII. We got a view of some of the original barracks, and through
many interpretive panels on our loop walk got a sense of life in the camp over about three years, noting the resourcefulness of the people trying
to live as normally as possible.
