Chicago Portage National Historic Site

8/24/1998 Drove quite a ways in traffic, construction, etc. to find the Chicago Portage NHS [Lyons] - turned out to be a field with a big sculpture commemorating the portage between Lake Michigan and the Des Plaines river.

8/29/2010 First stop, a short way to the Chicago Portage NHS to see the monument to the portage between the Great Lakes and Mississippi waterways.
