Herbert Hoover National Historic Site

5/24/2000 Down the highway a little to West Branch and the Herbert Hoover NHS [Birthplace NHL]. Arrived 45 minutes before opening, but could take a walk to the Hoover gravesite and on a trail [Herbert Hoover Prairie Trail NRT] over the restored prairie. Walked to Hoover’s boyhood home, and saw a reconstruction of his father’s blacksmith shop. Finally went to the visitor center and saw a brief film about the site.
