Effigy Mounds National Monument

5/24/2000 On the road, angling northeast to the Effigy Mounds NM. ... At the monument, hiked a round trip 2 mile trail up the steep bluffs to see different mounds made over 1500 years ago by the Indians. Saw round, cigar and one bear-shaped mound made as ceremonial/burial sites. Also along the trail saw a beautiful view of the Mississippi from the bluffs.
