National Parks - Kentucky
Mammoth Cave National Park
5/27/1990 Drove to Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky.
Big crowds - waited 3 hours for 1:15 tour, all sold out soon after. Great tour -
huge caverns, tight tunnels.

5/28/2025 The park encompasses portions of Mammoth Cave, the longest known cave system in the world. As of 2022, more than 426 miles (686 km) of
passageways had been surveyed. We couldn’t get a cave tour this late, but we could check out a few park features. At Doyel Valley Overlook we did learn
a little about the Appalachians, on which we are at the western edge, but not much of a view. At Sloan’s Crossing Pond, however, we took a pleasant
walk around the lake on Sloan’s Crossing Pond Walk, in gorgeous weather, on a very nice, new-looking boardwalk amongst the birds, cicadas, frogs, turtles, etc.
