Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park
4/22/2017 Continued south to Church Creek to the new VC for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National
Historical Park. We toured the excellent exhibits here, showing all the aspects of Tubman’s difficult life. There was a video loop
running, showing the opening ceremonies for the VC including an excellent portrayal of Tubman giving a speech. To get some sort of
site pertaining to Tubman, we drove further south to Bucktown to a historical marker for the Brodess farm, where Tubman spent her
childhood years. The site is in the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network, and also on the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway,
which we got on at Cambridge and continued on a loop back there.
