Clara Barton National Historic Site

9/20/1996 Back south to Glen Echo and just caught a tour of the house at Clara Barton NHS [NHL]. Interesting layout in house with open center sections, and learned a lot about Clara Barton.

Hampton National Historic Site

9/20/1996 First stop, Hampton NHS near Towson. This is a large, almost perfect Georgian mansion built in the late 1700s. Beautiful architecture and grounds. Took a nice tour.

Thomas Stone National Historic Site

7/25/1997 … went to Thomas Stone NHS [Habre-de-Venture NHL]. Home and plantation of a Declaration of Independence signer; restoration is near complete after a fire 20 years ago (house not open yet). Saw a film, walked around the grounds to see outbuildings, saw cemetery where Stone and family are buried.
