Fort Davis National Historic Site
5/20/2004 Drove a bit into the mountains to Fort Davis NHS [NHL]. Saw the remains and reconstructions
of the fort used to protect the Overland Route from Indians and later during the Civil War. Saw a film at the visitor center
and walked the grounds. Very picturesque setting at the base of rugged mountains. Also heard periodic bugle calls in the
order they would have been played originally.

3/15/2024 Fort Davis NHL and NHS. Operating from 1854 to 1891, the fort was strategically located to protect emigrants, mail coaches,
and freight wagons on the Trans-Pecos portion of the San Antonio-El Paso Road and the Chihuahua Trail. This was an after-hours photo-op for Ken, parked on
the perimeter road looking over a fence.
