Big Thicket National Preserve

5/14/2008 Headed up north, through a bad thunderstorm, to Big Thicket National Preserve. ... At the Preserve, got directions to the trail (and warning of approaching storm cell). Went a short way to the Kirby Nature Trail. Started on the trail, rather nice in the deep dark forest. Unfortunately, about 1/3 of the way around the storm hit. Luckily I had grabbed my hat and poncho, so put that on and headed back. At the visitor center, checked out the displays while the skies really opened, then on the road and drove out of the storm.
