Chester A. Arthur
Birthplace
Birthplace: Marker, Fairfield, VT
Visited: 10/18/20
Log Excerpt: "We continued to Fairfield for two more stops for our buddy CAA. There is some historical confusion here. There was a large monument established at his birthplace, and later on a group had added a reproduction version of his birth home. However, it was later determined that the “birthplace” was in fact a childhood home. So, on our tour, we stopped first at a state sign noting his true birthplace a few miles away."

Visited: 10/17/20
Log Excerpt: "on to our next target, a Chester A. Arthur home that Ken had already seen on the way home from a ski trip. Or not - I chose the wrong waypoint in Greenwich (wrong CAA home), which we realized when Ken wasn’t recognizing anything. Oops. CAA lived here roughly 1839-1844. Photos of this twice-moved home, in pretty bad shape ..."

Visited: 10/17/20
Log Excerpt: "... then moved on to get on track by going to the other CAA home site in Hoosick where he lived ~1845 to ~1850. This is really just a NYS sign on the property of the Big Moose Deli and Country Store."

Home: 123 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY (Private)
Visited: 12/30/10
Log Excerpt: "... then headed out, over to Lexington and down to the ... Chester A. Arthur Home – this was the home of the President before and after his term of office, living there after the assassination attempt on Garfield and taking the oath of office there upon Garfield’s death in 1881. The building now has a Mediterranean grocery on the first two floors and secure-entrance apartments on the top three. There was an historical plaque inside the apartment entrance, but no official NHL. Ken did even wander around the store looking for it, but nothing was found."
