Log Excerpt: "... we headed south to Buchanan’s Birthplace State Park. Here we found the impressive pyramid monument to the actual birthplace of President Buchanan. The setting was quite pretty with very tall pines on a pretty day with warm sun."

Log Excerpt: "... as we headed into Lancaster, where we parked at the James Buchanan House NHL (and Presidential home). Also known as Wheatland, the 1828 brick Federal style house was formerly owned by the 15th president of the U.S. Our understanding was that we were supposed to get general admission tickets at the museum to walk around the grounds, but we took our chances and just headed for the mansion and did our photos - no problem."

Log Excerpt: "Soon after, in downtown Lancaster, headed ... a short ways to Woodward Hill Cemetery and the grave of James Buchanan. The cemetery is in a really sad part of town but at least the gravesite was nicely maintained."
