Log Excerpt: "Continued up to Niles, and here we found the much more impressive William McKinley National Memorial, across the street from his birthplace (which now has a replica house, which we missed, that replaced a bank that replaced the original home). The memorial has a large, partially-covered outdoor area with a big statue, with the WM Library and Museum flanking it. "

Very good (funny) guide showed dresses of 1st ladies and related good stories. From there over to the Saxton house for a tour of the home of Ida Saxton McKinley. Also good guide in beautiful home."

7/19/91 "... then back to McKinley Memorial [McKinley Tomb NHL] just after opening. ... Next door is McKinley Museum - very nice hands-on science area with dinosaurs, biology, physical sciences. Rooms set up in period style (living room with working Edison type phonograph, etc.). Section of old west street with house, dentists office, store, etc. Very nice HO modular model train layout."
