Gold Belt Tour Scenic and Historic Byway

Total Segments Traveled
10/3/2012 At Colorado Springs, headed west and picked up the Gold Belt Tour Scenic Byway.
Gorgeous ride south, with some of the trees turned a bright yellow. At the end of the byway is the mining town of
Cripple Creek, part of an NHL district significant for its gold mining era history. I drove and walked around the
historic main street and checked out the Courthouse and Railroad Terminal.

San Juan Skyway

Total Segments Traveled
5/24/2007 The long stretch down 550 was over the San Juan Mountains [on the San Juan Skyway
Byway], running through spectacular snow-covered passes over 11,000 feet. Plenty of tight switchbacks and precipitous
drops. Headed west in Durango [also on the Skyway] and up into Dolores ...
