Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway

Total Segments Traveled
9/20/2014 ... then drove north, the last part on the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway, to Winterthur (the former
estate of Henry Francis du Pont) in Wilmington. We really needed reservations for the poplar house tour, but we didn’t feel
like it anyway. We took a tram through the natural woodland “garden” area and got off at the Mansion. We walked back to the
Reflecting Pool and Enchanted Forest, a fun area with whimsical structures and other fun features. Again, this on a beautiful day.
Back at the Mansion area we had a snack at the café and checked out a very nice exhibit of furniture, ceramics, etc. in the gallery.
Finally we walked back to the VC. We drove north on the NSB, then cut east and back down south on the other leg of the NSB.
