Las Vegas Strip Scenic Byway
11/6/2002 Headed out to the strip [Las Vegas Strip Byway], parked at Paris. Went up in the ½ scale Eiffel Tower for great views on another beautiful day. Walked around the quaint shopping “streets” as well. As with many of the city hotels, the streets have painted skies above with a very realistic effect. Walked along the strip to The Venetian, walked the “streets” once again to the Grand Canal. Took a gondola ride (very nice) with a singing gondolier. Had a light lunch and continued on to Caesar’s Palace for a stroll through. Back around to Paris and moved the car down to Luxor. Had a little snack; had hoped to do a ride for Kim but it apparently had been changed to a motion ride no one was interested in. Got the tram/walked to Excalibur/NY-NY/MGM Grand to do the lion petting at the Grand, but only 2 lions for viewing, no petting – oh well. Ken and I raced back, with tram via Mandalay Bay to get the car and pick everyone up, and down to Treasure Island. Went out front and found good spots at 6:15 for the 7:00 Pirate show. A ship actually pulled in to the lagoon up to another, a battle with explosions, men swinging on ropes, etc. ensued, and the one ship actually sank with all hands abandoning ship except for the captain.
5/26/2006 Parked at Excalibur and walked through hotels down to Bellagio [on the Las Vegas Strip Byway]. Waited for the fountains, but unfortunately they were cancelled due to very high winds. Back up the strip for buffet dinner at Excalibur. Down the strip a bit more ...
9/19/2009 Luckily the GPS had the Excalibur, so headed there and parked. Temps easily in the 90s by now, so it was a hot walk down the Strip [Las Vegas Strip Byway], especially crowded since the west side was closed to pedestrians due to construction. Ended up at Bellagio and waited only 5 minutes in the shade for a great fountain show with Sinatra doing Luck Be A lady – great!
