Big Bone Lick State Park
9/27/1997 South further to Big Bone Lick State Park, which has attracted animals to the mineral
springs since before the Mastodons, etc. were around. Took a hike around a buffalo herd area, and saw a film in a small museum of petrified bones.

Fort Boonesborough State Park
4/22/2021 Fort Boonesborough Site NHL and State Park. Founded by Daniel Boone and his men following their crossing
of the Kentucky River in 1775, this was a frontier fort in Kentucky, and Boonesborough, the settlement they founded, is Kentucky's second
oldest European-American settlement. This was quite enjoyable, the reconstruction being a rough square of stockaded buildings, each with
exhibits (or, more in season, a costumed person giving demonstrations) about weaving, pottery, etc. We did hang out with the blacksmith,
who was making little curve pieces that you hold in your fist and use to strike a flint to start a fire.

Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site
4/23/2021 Perryville Battlefield NHL and State Historic Site. This is the burial site of many Confederate soldiers
killed in the Battle of Perryville, fought in October 1862, between the Union Army of the Ohio and the Confederate Army of Mississippi.
We first parked by a monument to eat our excellent lunch from JJ, then walked around the small memorial area.
