Chimney Rock State Park

4/7/1998 Continued over to Chimney Rock [State Park]. Took an elevator up to the Chimney for magnificent views, and then down for a nice walk to the base of a pretty waterfall.

Cliffs of Neuse State Park

11/17/2006 On the road, heading for Raleigh but stopped at Cliffs of Neuse State Park as the sun was setting. Walked a short way on a trail and saw the Neuse river far below (we were on the Cliff).

Jockeys Ridge State Park

5/10/1996 From there to Nags Head on the Outer Bank and to Jockeys Ridge State Park and the highest dunes (100 ft) on the east coast. Usually there are hang gliders here but a wind shift made them stop.
