Mississippi River and Recreation Area
5/25/2000 ... up the river to the St. Anthony Falls and Upper Lock, one of the sites in the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. From an observation tower we could see the dam with the river flowing over where there used to be natural waterfalls, as well as the lock system on the side of the river which gave a minimum 9 foot depth to ships, as well as a 43 foot rise.

6/18/2009 ... then headed into Minneapolis and the Upper St. Anthony Falls & Lock in the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Walked the length of the Stone Arch Bridge and saw the locks, falls and old factories lining the river. Saw a barge heading upstream through the lock.
