Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area
10/13/2017 From there to our first sites in Como for the Mississippi Delta NHA. Along with just the general
classic-looking old-timey downtown area, we found a number of markers about Blues performers on the Mississippi Blues Trail,
itself also a component of the Mississippi Delta NHA.

4/29/2023 In Clarksdale we also spotted some of the Mississippi Blues Trail markers that we had seen on our last trek through MS,
the Trail being part of the Mississippi Delta NHA.

4/30/2023 Next, we drove into the Delta National Forest (in the Mississippi Delta NHA). We were targeting a geocache spot at a
trailhead, but due to muddy dirt roads we had to bail and just declare “we are here” for the Green Ash - Overcup Oak - Sweetgum Research Natural Areas
NNL. These three small parts of the Delta National Forest contain rare pristine tracts of bottomland hardwood trees. For a while we used the 4-wheel
drive setting on the car, and we did manage to make a real mess with mud on the car and on our shoes when we got out for photos. ...

Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area
5/16/2008 ... headed to Picayune. ... Went to the Crosby Arboretum (in Mississippi Gulf Coast NHA). The lady
didn’t even charge me admission since it was so crappy a day. I did wander around the nice paths (squishy) and checked out the
lake, nature signs, etc.

10/13/2017 Lucius Q. C. Lamar House Significant as the 1869-1888 home of the Congressman and U.S. cabinet member
who symbolized the South's post-war regained political respectability. This is a site in the Mississippi Hills NHA. William Faulkner House
The 1840s primitive Greek Revival house was purchased and renovated by the author in the 1930s. Although we couldn’t take the tour, we
enjoyed walking around the beautiful grounds contain hundreds of species of native Mississippi plants, most of which date back to
antebellum times. This site is also in the Mississippi Hills NHA. Lyceum - The Circle The NHL district contains eight academic buildings
arranged on University Circle, significant for its association with the Civil Rights Movement during the Ole Miss riot of 1962.
The Civil Rights Monument behind the Lyceum is in the Mississippi Hills NHA. This site being on the campus meant that it was really
crowded, with signs indicating parking guidance starting later on today, parade floats setting up and what appeared to be hundreds
of red and blue garbage barrels set up to handle the crowd.

Siege and Battle of Corinth Sites NHL (MS, TN) This NHL district
encompasses surviving elements of three significant Civil War engagements in and near Corinth, MS and at Davis Bridge in
TN. ... We went to the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center (in the Mississippi Hills NHA) and although it was closed we
did photo some signage and some silhouette figures of soldiers on what was the battlefield.
