Maine State Parks
Fort Halifax State Historic Site
9/10/2022 Fort Halifax (Winslow). Also an SHS, it was originally built as a wooden palisaded fort in 1754, during the French
and Indian War, only a single blockhouse survives of the British colonial outpost. All we really could do was photo the remaining blockhouse in a
nice park, although we did spend some time, as we do elsewhere, with handheld selfies, posed remote-control selfies, and 360s.

Fort Knox State Historic Site
9/11/2022 Returning north off the peninsula we were on we crossed the Penobscot River to stop at Fort Knox NHL and SHS.
Built between 1844 and 1869, it was the first fort in Maine built entirely of granite. This is a huge fort in fantastic shape, with many levels,
including excellent views of the river and surrounding area. We could have spent more time here, but as is often the case, we knew we had lot
in front of us.

Quoddy Head State Park
6/29/2008 First stop Quoddy Head SP, the easternmost point in the U.S. Although a bit hidden in fog,
saw the cute lighthouse and heard the foghorn, Checked out the few exhibits here in the lighthouse keeper’s house.
