Casselman River Bridge State Park
5/27/2016 Casselman Bridge, National Road (State Park). Constructed in 1813 to aid in the westward movement
through the frontier wilderness; a small portion of the original National Road still exists at the approaches. The bridge was in
a nice little area of shops and reconstructed village, with pretty grassy areas on the banks of the river.

Patapsco Valley State Park
10/17/2016 First stop, Patapsco Valley State Park for the Thomas Viaduct NHL. Upon its completion in 1835,
this was the largest bridge in the U.S. and the country's first multi-span masonry railroad bridge to be built on a curve.
This is also in the Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Network, and on the Captain John Smith Chesapeake NHT [MD]. I parked
by the ranger station and took my photos as a train rumbled overhead.
